Fifty Shades of Grey: A tribute to Caroline Acton

The film Fifty Shades of Grey based on the novel by E.L James hits the cinemas this week and whilst a lot of the focus has been on the romance; I have been dreaming of what it would be like to be Caroline Acton, the frequently mentioned but never seen personal shopper of Christian Grey. She had the pleasure of selecting every stylish item in Anastasia Rose Steele’s walk-in wardrobe, which for me had much more appeal than the ‘Red Room’.  Caroline Acton is the ultimate taste-maker and  go-to personal shopper of billionaires and their significant others. So I would like to pay tribute to the unsung heroine of Fifty Shades of Grey in my edit of coveted and stylish pieces fit for a billionaires.

Shortly after I have run through the entirety of my diary for the week in my head, my thoughts turn to the ubiquitous question which every woman asks herself, ‘what am I going to wear tomorrow?

A sartorial doff to an honourable lady

Calling all fans of the ‘Honourable Woman’ TV series…….

For eight weeks I was glued to my TV every Thursday night at 9pm, because it was the hour of the honourable woman, played by the phenomenal Maggie Gyllenhaal. My Scandinavian noir withdrawals were briefly held at bay by the advent of one of the best non-imported dramas UK TV has seen in a long time, not to mention one of the best characterisations of a complex female protagonist.
