The first time I saw a Longchamp Pliage bag was when I was waiting for the metro at Reaumur Sebastopol station in Paris. I was looking for an apartment in Paris because I was due to start my Stage (legal internship) 6 weeks later. The Pliage was the first step into a love affair with the now frequently written about ‘Parisienne’ style. However, my own special relationship with ‘Parisienne’ style felt unique and personal. The Pliage in its beautiful simplicity and elegance was not just a practical and stylish way to carry my lunch, or a spare pair of ballet flats, it was my work wardrobe stable. Mine was classic navy blue and had a silk scarf tied to the handle, appropriated inherited from my mother. Over the course of my internship my Pliage remained at my side on trips to Annecy, Marseille, Nice, and Tours, ever present, stylish and practical.

Glasses, spectacles, you name it I have been wearing them for decades. My superficial relationship with glasses started in the late eighties following a fantastic episode of the Clothes Show, which featured a segment on some fabulous eyewear. I remember thinking ‘I don’t really need to wear glasses ..….and that’s a shame because they are so hot right now. This was the late eighties, I was about 10 years old and I thought print jumpers with matching sock were cool! *Note to self socks and matching jumpers are never anything but sad!
