Award Season

It’s award season, and I am not just talking about Baftas and Oscars. It’s corporate award season which is just as glamorous and exciting as the showbiz version.

How do I know?

I know because this time last year my organisation was nominated for an award. The invitation said black tie and that a three course dinner and live band would be provided. There was a lot of mystery about who would be the host, Ricky Gervais, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey? As it turned out it was Jonathan Ross!

The event was all it promised to be and took place at the Grosvenor Hotel London.  The dress code allowed for cocktail or full length gown preferences and  I opted for the former (A 100% silk Reiss cocktail dress and a pair of 6 inch Louboutin pumps I purchased from Harvey Nichols). I made the effort by having my hair styled at Toni & Guy, and with a little help from  Shu Uemura my make-up actually worked in spite of the fact that I was applying it!

The opulence of our surrounding was not lost on me, and the dinner and entertainment lived up to expectation.  We didn’t win, but as they say it is not the winning, it’s all about the quality of the goody bag!

Maybe next time, but if not I have perfected my ‘it’s all about the nomination’ poker face!

Here is my edit of what to wear during Corporate Award Season
